Sunday 15th December

Although it has remained dry here today, it was quite windy this morning, the ferry was disrupted and did not leave until 14.00, wonder if the reindeer left or not? Earlier on this week Nat and her team did a Chough count at various roosting sites round Islay with a tally of 103 Chough being seen. Earlier this week, I read that the Corncrake numbers were well down, but luckily for Islay, our numbers remained similar to last year with 87 calling males being heard. Yesterday down in one of the fields at Rockside there were around 50 Lapwing, 50 Golden Plover and a similar number of Starlings all hunkered up on the ground, trying not to get blown along....
